Description
Born in Brno in the Czech Republic in 1943, pianist Josef Bulva was considered a child prodigy from an early age, playing Brahms’ demanding Paganini Variations at the age of 13. The child prodigy later became the “state soloist” of what was then Czechoslovakia and also enjoyed an excellent reputation abroad. After the Prague Spring, he left the country, became a citizen of Luxembourg and made Munich his second home. In 1996, his left hand was supposedly irreparably injured in an accident and his career was considered to be over. But after several operations and years of hard training, Bulva returned to the concert stage in 2009 and released several CDs with works by Chopin, Beethoven and Liszt. On this DVD, recorded in 2015, Josef Bulva plays some of these works on his Steinway number 582 310.
